SOPHISTICATED + CLASSIC CHRISTMAS PORCH DECOR IN RED
Is Christmas Eve really a week from tomorrow? I’m a bit behind this year, but I’m so excited to reveal our Christmas porch decor, with this gorgeous, classic look – I never knew I loved red so much! If you’ve seen my other Christmas decorating posts this holiday season, then you know what I mean.
I’ve added red to my usual blues inside our home, which is a first for me – you can visit my Christmas kitchen and Christmas living room to see how I used this vibrant hue. Outside, I kept our home dressed up in traditional red and green (also a first for rme!) and I am so in love.
Most importantly, is that my family loves it too, and I am thrilled. Scroll through to see it and tell me what you think!

OUR CHRISTMAS PORCH DECOR WITH CLASSIC RED
My goal for the exterior of our home this Christmas, was to create a traditional and classic feel, and since red was the color of choice inside our home, then I wanted it on the exterior as well.
I’ve always been so inspired by gorgeous homes decked out in classic big red bows and greenery, but I’ve never actually done it myself. It’s nostalgic and traditional and always elegant and sophisticated.
Even though I often change our holiday decor since I’ve been blogging, it’s always been a neutral look for the exterior of our home – last year’s Christmas porch was all about gold and silver, and we loved it.
Someone told me I used too many bows for our Christmas porch decor, but honestly, I want to use even more!
I made the bows out of two and a half inch satin wired ribbon – which you need to have them hold their shape – and tied them to the wreaths, swags and garland. I also tied ribbon around our lanterns to dress them up.
I wanted the bows on all of the greenery to look substantial, so I fastened two together to make one large one, for a gorgeous, full look, leaving a good length of ribbon trailing down.

I bought the beautiful swags, window wreathes and oversized red berry wreath on our front door from Canadian Tire, and I’m so happy I found them all…perfect for my classic red holiday theme.
The wreath is full and lush – the variation of reds in the berries is so beautiful and the addition of the bow makes it really pop off of our black door.
We create the same look for our planters each year, by using simple, fresh cut pine branches that we buy from a local farm.
I love the simplicity, both visually and practically speaking, but next year I might try something with more variation.
The nursery had red branches this year, which is the perfect addition to my traditional red look – what are the chances? It was meant to be.
I think venturing out of my comfort zone this holiday season has proven to be a success in my decorating books! I can’t get enough of this gorgeous and classic red and green holiday combination.
Thank you, as always for reading with me – I’ll be back next week with our Christmas entryway and dining room, I told you I’m behind! I hope you love our Christmas porch decor this year as much as we do. I truly think this is my favorite look yet, and I don’t think I’ll be changing it next year either. Maybe I’ll add just a few more bows. xo

Beautiful! I am thinking of using red satin ribbon for our outdoor decorations this year. How did it hold up to the weather? Did the ribbon fade any? Thanks!
